The clever fox lives with his wife Fóa and four yrðurlings in a fir tree in a single valley in the vicinity of three large farmers who are involved in various types of food production.
The fox has a way of going every night to the storehouses of the three farmers to get something good to eat for his family, such as a plump duck, smoked ham or turkey.
The farmers decide together to put the fox under the cat's nose, and a great and exciting battle for life and death begins. Will the farmers succeed or will the animals turn on them? The fox is not alone in the fight.
